Fr. Tom Clegg was born in 1960 to John and Rosie Clegg in Indianapolis, IN. He is the 7th of 10 children in his family. He was raised in Indianapolis attending St. Philip Neri Grade School, and the Latin School of Indianapolis for high school. He attended St. Meinrad College for two year before transferring to Marian College in Indianapolis, graduating in 1982 with a degree in Elementary Education. After brief stints on the Indianapolis Fire Department and teaching, Fr. Tom returned to seminary in 1986 studying at Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati, OH. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis by the Most Reverend Edward T. O’Meara, archbishop of Indianapolis, on June 2, 1990. His pastoral assignments include associate pastor, Christ the King Parish, Indianapolis (1990-1992), founding pastor of Good Shepherd Parish, Indianapolis and teacher/chaplain at Roncalli High School (1992-2003), pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and St. Augustine Parish in Jeffersonville, IN (2003-2013), and now pastor of St. John Paul II Catholic Parish.
Fr. Tom enjoys reading, traveling, an occasional game of golf, and more frequent games of Texas Hold-em poker. He loves Southern Indiana and hopes to be here for a long time to come.
